SITE VISIT AT VIPASSANNA PAGODA AN ENGINEERING MARVEL
AT GORAI.

There
was an overwhelming response to the visit to this
International Engineering Marvel known as Vipassanna Pagoda
at Gorai.

Worlds
largest dome with ‘280’ feet span
constructed without using steel, cement, concrete and without
using shuttering, and which can accommodate 10,000 people at
a time.
Technical
details and Philosophy behind creation and use of the Pagoda
was explained in detail by experts on the site.
Huge
Intricately carved wooden burma teak door - panels
of the main entrance to the dome are hung in such a way that
doors can be slided by single finger touch. (Donated by Burmese
Government.)

Certain
R.C.C. Arches and frilled decorations are
being added to the main Pagoda structure.

At
ground floor, there are large paintings are displayed in the
art gallery with inscriptions explaining important events in
the life of Buddha, Before and
after the enlightenment

Architect
Shri Parvez Dumasia, was being congratulated by Shri Ajit Khatri,
the president of PEATA with bouquet of flowers and memento.
The great person who originally designed the details of stone
structure etc, Shri Chandubhai Sompura expired during construction
of PAGODA.
Structural
Engineer Shri N.R. Varma is being

Govardhanbhai Jagaji, the main stone Craftsman
who led the stone carver’s team for Pagoda, being
